General Guidelines
Six smiling recipients of the first award of the 2006 Dr. and Mrs. Kyung H. Kim Scholarships for nursing students.
Scholarship applications are available through area high school guidance offices and selected universities. Each scholarship has a selection committee and a specific set of criteria. Please contact the appropriate school for more information on how to apply.

Scholarship Funds
Carver Family Scholarship Fund
Donors: The family of William Carver established the scholarship in his
memory to honor his dedication to teaching young
people at Sandusky High School.
Eligibility Criteria: For graduates of Sandusky High School; two awards will be made
annually, for one female and one male student. Selection will be
based on financial need; acceptance at an accredited school;
community service.

John & Clara Corogin Scholarship Fund
Donors: John and Clara Corogin
Eligibility Criteria: For minority graduates of any Erie County high school. Applicants
will be selected on the basis of financial need; academic ability; and
leadership. Two-three awards will be given annually.

Harry DeLapp Scholarship Fund
Donors: Cedar Bay Construction Company, in memory of Harry DeLapp, the
company's founder and president.
Eligibility Criteria: For graduates of Huron High School and New London High School
who participated in the schools' football programs. Applicants will
need to demonstrate financial need; ability to succeed academically
in college; and community service. Two awards will be made
annually to one Huron graduate and one New London graduate.

Firelands Positive People
Donors: Firelands Positive People
Eligibility Criteria: For graduates of any Erie County high school who have experienced adversity and come through with a positive attitude. Three-four awards are given annually, rangin from $500-$3,000.

Donal F. & Marcia L. Goff Scholarship Fund

Eligibility Criteria: For graduates of Perkins High School pursuing a post high
school education in health care

Thomas & Dorothy Jackson "Dare to Dream" Memorial Scholarship Fund
Donor: Daniel Jackson, in memory of his parents
Eligibility Criteria: For African-American graduates of Perkins High School;
acceptance at a four year college or university; academic
excellence is the major criterion, with a 3.0 GPA minimum.
Preference given to residents of the Searsville or Homeville
sections of Perkins Township.
The scholarship is renewable in subsequent years, with 2.5 GPA
minimum and full time status.

Dr. and Mrs. Kyung H. Kim Scholarship Fund
Donors: Mrs. Kyung H. Kim, in memory of her husband, a Sandusky area
physician
Eligibility Criteria: For students who have completed their
first year and are attending Firelands Regional Medical Center School of Nursing
to pursue a degree in Nursing.

Paul, Jeanne, & Sally Maschari Family Fund
Donors: The Maschari Family
Eligibility Criteria: For one graduate of St. Mary Central Catholic High School and one
from Sandusky High School, demonstrating financial need.

Mildred P. McCrystal Memorial Scholarship Fund
Donors: Mildred P. McCrystal Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility Criteria: For third or fourth year Erie County college students, majoring in
fine arts, with an emphasis on music or music education.

Ruth F. Parker Scholarship Fund
Donor: Ruth F. Parker
Eligibility Criteria: For graduates of any high school to attend Bowling Green State
University, Firelands College campus. Scholarship may be
renewable.

PEO, Chapter BE Scholarship
Donor: PEO, Chapter BE
Eligibility Criteria: For residents of Erie County, Ohio pursuing a post secondary education, including part time students. Preference gven to non-traditional-aged female students, demonstrating financial need. The scholarship may be renewed.

Helen B. & Elam P. Sabroske Educational Fund
Donors: Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M. Wolf, in memory of Mrs. Wolf's parents
Eligibility Criteria: For graduates of any Erie County high school to attend Bowling
Green State University, main campus, or BGSU Firelands.

Sandusky/Erie County Community Foundation Youth Council Scholarship
Donor: Sandusky/Erie County Community Foundation
Eligibility Criteria: Must be a member of the Youth Council and accepted at an
accredited college. One student is selected at random among 7
graduating seniors each year.

Michelle Marie Saunders & Ryan Leigh Foss Memorial Scholarship Fund
Donors: The fund was established by Craig and Joan Saunders
and Paul and Tracy Berlin, in memory of their daughters, Michelle Saunders
and Ryan Foss.
Eligibility Criteria: For graduates of Huron High School for undergraduate study.
Applicants must display exceptional character, love of God and
family, and an appreciation of genuine friendships.

Alan R. Schlessman Scholarship Fund
Donors: Mr. and Mrs. John Schlessman established the fund in memory of
their son Alan.
Eligibility Criteria: Preference given to graduates of Perkins
High School; some consideration given to studnts planning to attend Ohio State
University. Consideration given for leadership, academic competence, and desire
for higher education; and for participation in golf, basketball or tennis, and
peer programs.

Clarence W. Seavers Citizenship Scholarship
Donor: Clarence W. Seavers
Eligibility Criteria: For Erie County high school graduates, pursuing a degree in political science or computer technology. Preference shall be given to students with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0, and demonstrated qualities of leadership, spirituality, and commitment to community service. The scholarship may be renewed.
